Janice Poitras
Senior Consultant, Special Projects
Janice Poitras is currently working towards her B. Comm. through the U of S. She has over 10 years of experience with Case Management of Indigenous People looking to enter or re-enter the labour market. The past 9 years were spent behind the scenes building capacity of front-line case workers, ensuring service delivery of various funding agreements and data management.
Ms. Poitras is passionate about Case Management and as such, developed a Case Management Model unique to Indigenous Peoples. This work required collaboration with subject matter professionals, community engagement, and extensive knowledge of issues Indigenous People face with entering the labour market. Ms. Poitras believes her residency on the Saulteaux First Nation and the City of Saskatoon, provides her with firsthand experience of what it is like to walk in “two worlds”. This added advantage gives her the unique skillset to make recommendations that are meaningful in terms of delivering labour market services.
Ms. Poitras also considers herself as a traditional knowledge keeper and is always willing to share her indigenous culture inside and outside the workplace.
